About
Calculations, done well.
OurDailyCalc is a small product with a simple goal: make the calculator websites we wished existed. Fast, accurate, beautifully designed, and free of the clutter that has plagued the category for two decades.
Why we built this
The internet is full of calculator websites. Most of them feel like they were last updated in 2008 — popups, generic ads, low-contrast text, and formulas hidden behind walls of SEO-optimised filler.
We thought it could be done differently. The math is the same as it always was. The presentation can be quietly better — typography that reads well, spacing that breathes, and tools that respond to keystrokes instead of forcing you through a multi-step form.
That's what OurDailyCalc is. A coherent design system applied to a practical category. We are starting with six calculators and shipping more every month.
What we care about
Speed
Every calculator works in under 100 ms. We use Astro’s static generation, ship near-zero JavaScript, and inline what we can. The result feels instant — even on a 3G phone.
Accuracy
Each formula is sourced from primary references — WHO for BMI, ISO/NIST for unit conversions, standard reducing-balance for EMIs. Methods are documented on every calculator page.
Privacy
Your calculations stay on your device. We use localStorage for favourites and recents, and we never send your inputs to a server.
Design
A coherent system across every tool — typography, spacing, motion. No two calculators feel like they came from different websites.
How we work
- Open methodology. Every formula we use is documented on the calculator page. If we ever cite a non-obvious source, we link to it.
- No tracking-heavy analytics. We use lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics to count page views — nothing personal.
- Reasonable ads only. We monetise the site with unobtrusive AdSense placements that never interrupt a calculation. Layout space is reserved to prevent shifts.
- Built in public. The whole site is plain HTML, CSS, and a sliver of JS — view source any time.
